Money orders must come completed, with the inmates LCDC number. There is a limit

BONDING:
Bonding: Enables inmates to be released from custody while waiting for their court
date. The LCDC does bonding 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There are four types of
bonds.
Cash Bond – the full amount of the bond is paid in cash or money orders made directly
to the court. The LCDC acts as an agent for the courts. Cash and money orders may
be taken and receipts given. Please call ahead to verify rules for cash bonding.
Surety Bond – (Professional Bondsman) – a licensed bondsman post the bond and charges
a fee based on a percentage of the inmates total bond. Detention staff are not allowed
to recommend a bondsman or a bonding company. Inmates may obtain a list of bonding
agents in the Deming area from the booking officer.
Property Bond – If the inmate, or relative or a friend has sufficient equity in a
home, building or real estate, he or she may be allowed to use that property as collateral
for a property bond. All property Bonds must go through the court.
Personal Recognizance or Own Recognizance Bond – The inmate promises to appear in
court when ordered and the inmates agreement to abide by any special conditions that
may be a condition of the bond. The judge may also require that the bond be co-signed
by a second person to further insure the inmate’s appearance in court. There are
times employees of the LCDC may release an inmate on the Personal Recognizance or
Own Recognizance bond. The court has assigned certain officers as court designees.
Bonds are accepted prior to the first court appearance after arrest. A judge may
authorize any type of bond. The Detention Center works with the courts during the
bonding process. The LCDC charges a $10 dollar bonding fee on all bonds and for each
warrant.
